Triple M Metal is seeking a HUMAN RESOURCES ADVISOR to act as a strategic business partner who provides advice and counsel to management and staff on a wide variety of human resources related issues. The position will be based in Brampton, Ontario, however client groups outside of this area may also be assigned. The successful candidate will be accountable for a wide-range of subject matter including but not limited to recruitment and selection, retention, performance management, employee/labour relations, training and development, and compensation.

 

The responsibilities listed below are meant to provide a description of the requirements related to this position. However, the functions listed below may not be inclusive of all responsibilities associated with this position. The time spent performing these duties will vary from time to time and may be altered at the discretion of the Company. As a Human Resources Advisor, the incumbent will perform these broad categories of activity:

Recruitment:

  • Provide recruitment and selection support to designated client groups
  • Work with hiring managers to define job specifications

  • Gather and screen applicant resumes

  • Conduct screening interviews and coordinate hiring manager interviews

  • Ensure the integrity of the recruitment process

  • Prepare offer letters and initiate new hire packages

  • On-boarding of new employees.

 

Labour and Employee Relations:

 

  • Provide guidance to supervisory/management staff in terms of labour and employee relations, performance or disciplinary issues for both unionized and non-unionized workforces, mitigating the risks of litigation
  • Support local management in the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and the resolution of grievances

  • Lead or support specific investigations (incidents, workplace harassment, violence etc.)

  • Assess developmental needs for local supervisor/manager level staff and current practices to find ways to optimize employee engagement

  • Perform exit interviews upon employees leaving the company.

 

HR Programs Development and Administration:

 

  • Provide managers and employees, within their client group, generalist human resources services and technical leadership and guidance as required
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR initiatives, policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with existing regulations (Employment Standards, Labour Relations, Pay Equity, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act, etc.)

  • Provide management with coaching and support in the areas of recruitment, retention, performance management and salary administration; to improve work relationships and maintain/retain an engaged workforce

  • Seek periodic feedback from client groups and facilitate, coach and mentor individuals and groups to improve performance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent, CHRP or CHRL designation is preferred
  • 5 years demonstrated experience as a HR Generalist

  • Strong communication, consultative, interpersonal and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to interpret and apply policies ensuring consistency and equity

  • Organizational and follow-up skills to ensure issues are dealt with promptly and information is communicated effectively

  • Mature conflict resolution and facilitation skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Commitment to customer service with strong sense of urgency

  • Strong organizational development experience and the ability to problem solve and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Possess strong integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information

  • Highly motivated, self-starting, requiring little direction

  • Willing and able to travel in order to effectively support assigned client groups (may include cross border travel)

  • Experience working in a waste management/transportation/construction or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
