From August 2022 to August 2023, 10-year-old Jace Weber set out with a goal – collect some pop tabs to raise money for charity. What started out small, quickly grew into a community effort with the Weber family coming home every day to find pails worth of pop tabs on their doorstep, courtesy of their community.
After a full year of this effort, they headed over to Triple M Metal in Scarborough to get his collection weighed. In 25 rain barrels was a record-breaking 6.2 million pop tabs, weighing in at a whopping 3,658 pounds. This collection earned himself just over $2,500, which he donated to the March of Dimes.
In March 2024, Triple M Metal learned that Jace is once again collecting pop tabs for charity. To assist with his fundraising, Triple M Metal announced that we would be matching his donation to a charity of his choosing. Jace’s choice? A fundraiser at his school to build an accessible playground.
Pictured below is Jace, his principal, and a classmate who is looking forward to the new playground. Triple M is beyond proud to have been the drop-off location of choice for his amazing initiative. Jace’s generosity is inspiring to us all at Triple M Metal.
